Production Exchange is a subscription based, third party internet service that allows rental companies to simply arrange sub-hires via an online system that helps them to find suppliers that match their requirements - in particular displaying real time availability.
There are two parts to the HireTrack Eclipse - Production Exchange facility. Firstly a Windows service that is installed separately and sends availability information to the Production Exchange servers and this tab within HireTrack Eclipse, which is used to configure each type of equipment with a Production Exchange E-code. An E-Code is a centrally-managed code describing a specific product.
In order to synchronise the local description of a type of equipment, with the Production Exchange description, an E-code is used as a common identifier and this needs to be selected for each piece of equipment that is to be synchronised with Production Exchange.
Within HireTrack Eclipse there are two methods of finding the correct E-code

Filter the list of all E-codes by a certain category of equipment

Use a smart match heuristic technique to find a possible match.
To Filter using smart match
Select the Smart Match option
The list of displayed equipment will then be filtered to show equipment where there is a linguistically match between the HireTrack Eclipse type description and the Production Exchange description.
For example - if HireTrack Eclipse is currently referring to an ETC Source 4 19 degree lens
The Smart Match will display all products that contain the words, ETC, source, degree and lens - the characters 4 and 19 are not searched on as only groups of three characters or more are included in the smart match. This gives the following results that are sorted in order of score (highest score first) and then alphabetically.
From the list of displayed equipment, select the one which corresponds most closely to the current HireTrack Eclipse type by double clicking the line.
This will set the E-code against this HireTrack Eclipse type and check the active checkbox. The active checkbox indicates to Production Exchange that availability for this type is to be included in the information available to potential customers.
To filter by Production Exchange category
Select the By Category option
Use the dropdown list to select an appropriate Category
From the list of displayed equipment, select the one which corresponds most closely to the current HireTrack Eclipse type by double clicking the line.
This will set the E-code against this HireTrack Eclipse type and check the active checkbox. The active checkbox indicates to Production Exchange that availability for this type is to be included in the information available to potential customers.
