Three categories are System categories and may not be deleted.
·Consumable  
·New Equipment  
·Roadcase  
The Consumable Category is used for disposable or sales stock such as batteries, tape, gel, etc. or product that is not part of the Hire Stock but to be sold.
The New Equipment category is used for equipment that is added "on the fly" through the Add New Tab of the Popstock Window.
The Road Case Category is obviously for your travel cases.

Every type of equipment you own must have a category, otherwise it will not appear in your Popstock window. This is done so that similar equipment can be grouped together on Equipment Lists and Inventory Lists.

To Add a New Category:
1.icon: Equipment Book  
2.tab: Categories and Sorting  
3.Section: Categories:  
4.Decide if the new category is to be a hire category or a consumable category.  
5.Button: Add New. If it is a consumable category, then press the button:  
6.Enter your Category Description  
7.Select a Master Category from the drop down window.  
8.Button: Update.  
 
If you make a mistake whilst entering category, press the cancel button: . Your changes will not be saved.  
 
To Delete a Category:  
If it is decided to delete a Category, select the Category and press the delete button: . You will be prompted to make sure that you wish to delete the Category:

If a category has associated types you will not be able to delete this category until the types are reassigned. If types are associated with a category when trying to delete, a window will display:


Great care must be given before deciding to delete a Category, as the deletion could impact historical data.
